The Fall Crunch

Having finished Eternal Sonata in June, I was feeling quite pleased with myself. So, I spent most of July playing Gears of War 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (my standby multiplayer shooters). However, ‘the city never sleeps’, and I have moved on to the next round of challenges. I started college in August, so I don't have as much time as used to, nonetheless, here’s a snapshot of my September - October 2012 backlog-gauntlet.

Borderlands: In late July, a friend convinced me to pick this game up. Now, Borderlands has me addicted to the loot-wheel, and exceptional co-op it offers. I’ve been loving the Mad Max style craziness, cell shaded art aesthetic, and the deadpan humor. Here’s hoping I finish it and get a review up before September 18 when Borderlands 2 comes out.

Bully: Ever since Rockstar released this high school satire, I’ve wanted to give it a try. About a year ago I finally took the plunge and picked up a copy. Yes, thats 12 months it sat shrink wrapped in my backlog stack under my nightstand. Now that I’ve started playing the game, I’m getting the feeling that having waited so long, my expectations might be a tad out of touch. I’m trying to like it, and it is quite charming but it definitely feels dated (and not in that ‘cool retro’ way).

Uncharted Drake’s Fortune: With Uncharted 2 being all the rage in 2009 and 2010, I was forever envious of my Playstation-owning friends. This ensured that when I finally bought my own PS3 the first thing I picked up was an Uncharted 1 and 2 double pack that came with a controller. I’ve been playing through the first game off and on for about a month now and I am loving it. The shooting leaves a little to be desired, but the story’s wit and feel do more than enough to balance that out. You get the impression Naughty Dog’s priorities were in the right place when they made this Tomb Raider-meets-Indiana Jones adventure.
