Belated Post: 1
This is a post from December 2012 that I wrote while I was in California at my parent’s house for the holidays. I've had it written on paper with the intention of posting it for four months now. Despite the fact that with each passing day it made less and less sense to append my blog with this months old update, it contains some of my favorite conquests so, included it is.
I beat three games in the last few months. Borderlands, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and I was even able to beat Borderlands 2. I completed Borderlands barely a week before its sequel came out in September (2012). Uncharted took more time and was not finished until mid November (2012).
Borderlands: Like Diablo in first person 3D, Borderlands has a ton of loot, and it is a ton of fun to play with friends. As an added bonus the sarcastic dialog from many of the characters was quite funny as well. My only gripe with this title was the abruptness of the ending, and its lackluster final boss fight. With a little extra forethought, Borderlands could have been an almost perfect game.
Uncharted Drakes Fortune: “Ambling”, that's my word for Uncharted. Drake jumps, climbs, platforms, and rolls like there is no tomorrow. In a lot of ways Uncharted played like an updated Tomb Raider, and that's a good thing. But, I’m burying the lead, Uncharted is amazing because it actually lives up to its cinematic ambitions. This is the first game I have played where I actually feel like I’m starring in a movie, complete with requisite witty one-liners, cliff hangers, and explosions. Of the three games I played, Uncharted was probably the most “epic”.
Borderlands 2: The first Borderlands was awesome but left me wanting more in the end. Gearbox fixed all of that in Borderlands 2. The game feels longer and deeper than the first. That being said, the best parts of the game are still the guns and gear. I have probably sunk more time into Borderlands 2 than I have into any other single player or Co-Op game this year. Completing quests with friends is very entertaining and rewarding. There really isn't a console game out there that replicates the fun I have when playing Borderlands 2. If you can convince a friend, I would heartily recommend this purchase.
